Learn About Our Current Clinical Trials
The goal of research at the Reeve Woods Eye Center is to provide our patients with the best possible care through cutting edge therapies while simultaneously contributing to the advancement of healthcare as a whole.
RWEC has participated in several successful clinical trials that have led to the FDA approval of novel therapies for cataracts, glaucoma, and dry eye. We strive to be one of the premier research centers in Northern California, and are constantly taking part in new trials to further advance the field of ophthalmology. Our qualifying patients have the opportunity to participate in these clinical trials, and receive the most advanced treatments for their eyes.
A clinical trial is a voluntary research study conducted in people that is designed to answer questions about the safety and effectiveness of novel therapies.
All clinical trials have very specific guidelines on who can participate. Additionally, all participation is completely voluntary. If you are interested in one of our trials, our study staff will thoroughly evaluate your eligibility based on the study specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.
The sponsor of the research generally covers study-related expenses or greatly discounts them. Additionally, you may receive a stipend for your participation. Your study coordinator will go over any costs you may incur and any reimbursements you may receive.
If you choose to participate in a trial, you will be carefully screened for eligibility before being enrolled. This generally consists of a comprehensive eye exam and routine testing. If you meet all of the inclusion criteria, you will be enrolled in the study and receive the study treatment and follow-up.
