Panoptix Pro

At Reeve Woods Eye Center, we are committed to offering our patients the most advanced solutions in vision care. If you’re exploring options for cataract surgery, the Clareon® PanOptix® Pro Trifocal Intraocular Lens (IOL) sets a new standard for clarity, range, and quality of vision. Designed by Alcon, this next-generation IOL is built on years of innovation and clinical research to provide life-changing results.

What Is Clareon® PanOptix® Pro?

The Clareon® PanOptix® Pro is a trifocal intraocular lens used during cataract surgery to replace the eye’s clouded natural lens. Unlike monofocal lenses, which only improve distance vision, or bifocal lenses, which offer two focal points, the PanOptix® Pro provides sharp, seamless vision at near, intermediate, and far distances. Patients who choose PanOptix® Pro often enjoy greater visual freedom, significantly reducing their need for reading glasses, bifocals, or progressive lenses.

What Sets It Apart?

PanOptix® Pro isn’t just another trifocal IOL. It builds upon the success of the original PanOptix® with new features that enhance both visual performance and patient satisfaction:

  • 94% Light Utilization: The new ENLIGHTEN® NXT Optical Technology enables up to 94% light utilization, a significant increase over the previous generation. This means more light reaches the retina, resulting in brighter and clearer vision throughout all lighting conditions.

  • Reduced Light Scatter: Compared to the original PanOptix®, this new model cuts light scatter in half. This reduces visual noise and distractions, providing sharper vision, especially in low-light environments such as restaurants or while driving at night.

  • Improved Image Contrast: With a 16% increase in contrast sensitivity at far-intermediate distances, PanOptix® Pro helps patients better distinguish shapes and details, making everyday tasks like using a computer or navigating a store easier and more comfortable.

  • Minimal Visual Disturbances: According to clinical data, only 2.6% of patients reported being bothered by halos, glare, or starbursts, a common concern with other multifocal IOLs. This makes PanOptix® Pro one of the most visually comfortable options available today.

Engineered for Optical Clarity

At the heart of the PanOptix® Pro is the Clareon® material, a breakthrough in IOL manufacturing. This ultra-clear hydrophobic acrylic is designed to be exceptionally stable, resistant to glistening, and free from impurities that can degrade vision over time.

It maintains transparency and image quality, ensuring long-term visual performance. Additionally, the lens is designed for easy insertion through small incisions, promoting faster healing and less inflammation post-surgery.

Built-In Blue Light and UV Filters

PanOptix® Pro includes built-in blue light and UV filters, offering added protection for the retina. These filters help shield the eye from harmful wavelengths of light, which can contribute to conditions such as macular degeneration, while still allowing beneficial light through.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Ideal candidates for PanOptix® Pro are patients undergoing cataract surgery who:

  • Want to reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses or contacts

  • Are active and rely on clear vision across a wide range of activities

  • Have no significant retinal disease or other ocular conditions that may impair the performance of the IOL
